Braithwaite Heritage
Our project has brought together nearly 450 years of Braithwaite area history.
We have collected information from ancient historical resources to bring together a whole host of fascinating stories about Braithwaite life in this Cumbrian community, set in the northern part of the English Lake District.
The history of The Village Shop is also told, going back to its beginnings in 1830. Nearly 190 years of an unbroken thread of village shop history is told when you enter the shop in Braithwaite, where themes depicting all the significant moments in the village’s history are told.
